I chose to include this artifact because it provided me with the opportunity to explore something entirely new through the lens of an industry I am familiar with. Prior to completing this strategic marketing plan, I lacked any relevant background in marketing. Initially, I was overwhelmed, not only by new concepts being taught, but by the scope of the project, leaving me unsure of where to begin.
Ultimately, I chose to focus on my current employer, a Wichita-area Managed Service Provider (MSP), as the subject of my plan. My familiarity with the business gave me something more concrete to build from and made the experience far more meaningful.
As the plan came together, I began to understand how marketing defines value for businesses, allowing them to connect with their target audiences effectively though clear and intentional communication. In the end, what initially began as an unfamiliar and intimidating assignment became one of the most rewarding and satisfying projects I’ve completed in my graduate program.
