Cultural Diversity in Teamwork

In “Cultural Diversity in Teamwork,” I reflect on my experience as a research assistant within a multidisciplinary and cross-cultural research team while attending Wichita State University as an undergraduate student. The paper explores how differences in communication styles and cultural expectations influenced the dynamics of our team and contributed to misunderstandings early on.

I chose to include this artifact because it represents a formative moment in my academic and professional journeys. This experience challenged me to move beyond my own cultural framework and engage more thoughtfully with perspectives differing from my own.

Reflecting on this experience helped me to better understand the root causes of those early challenges, and I am left with a deeper appreciation for the roles of empathy, cultural awareness, and adaptability in building stronger, more effective working relationships.
